Ok so quick background, I'm not licensed for securities but I just want to see what designation I should check out. I'm not sure which makes more sense for someone in my position. Just want to get deeper into annuities but I am unsure which to take so I want to ask from people who actually tried already.

Totally get wanting to specialize in annuities without the securities headache! It's a huge area.

I'd lean towards the RICP if you're aiming to advise people on their overall retirement income. Annuities are a big piece of that puzzle, but the RICP helps you understand how to weave them into a complete income plan. It's really practical for folks nearing or in retirement.

If you're not licensed, chasing designations can be more about marketing than real skill. Most people push whatever course makes money, not what actually teaches you about annuities, so buyer beware, it's a jungle out there!
